Windshield Chip & Crack Repair

Most windshield damage starts small: a stone off a truck on 287, a nick that appears after the first cold night. A chip smaller than a quarter, with no leg running to the edge of the glass, is almost always repairable — and repairing it early costs a fraction of a new windshield.

We clean the break, pull a vacuum on the pit through a bridge, and inject an acrylic resin that is cured under UV light. The result is flush with the glass and strong enough to stop the damage travelling. A faint mark usually stays visible at an angle, because a repair restores strength, not a factory finish.

When a chip can be repaired

  • A chip, bullseye or star smaller than a quarter in diameter
  • A short crack, under about six inches, that has not reached the edge
  • Damage outside the driver's primary line of sight
  • A pit that darkens or collects dirt after rain
  • Damage that appeared in the last few weeks and has not spread

Worth knowing

How long does a chip repair take?

About thirty minutes for a single chip, and you can drive away as soon as it is done. Multiple chips on the same windshield take a little longer but are usually finished in the same visit.

Will the chip disappear completely?

No. The resin restores strength and stops the spread, and it clears most of the white, cloudy look, but a faint outline usually stays visible at an angle. That is normal and expected.

How the repair goes

  1. Step 01

    Assessment

We look at the break under a light, measure it and check whether a leg has already started toward the edge. If the honest answer is replacement, we say so on the spot instead of selling an injection.

  2. Step 02

    Injection

The pit is cleaned and a bridge is sealed over it. Resin goes in under vacuum, filling the break from the bottom up, then cures under UV.

  3. Step 03

    Finish

The surface is scraped level and polished. You can drive immediately — there is no cure time after a chip repair.

Questions we get asked

What if the repair fails?

A break with hidden legs occasionally opens further during injection. When that happens we stop, show you why, and credit what you paid toward a replacement.
