Replacement service
Door & Quarter Glass Replacement
A smashed side window is usually a break-in, sometimes a hard slam, occasionally a regulator that finally let go. Tempered glass is made to shatter into small pieces for safety, which means there is never anything left to repair — only to replace.
We vacuum the fragments out of the door cavity before anything goes back in, because glass left behind rattles, jams the window track and works its way into the drain holes. The regulator, tracks and seals get checked while the panel is off, so a window that had been sticking does not come back a week later.
When to call us
- A side or rear window that has been broken out
- A window that rattles, leans, or drops in its track
- Glass that will not roll up the last inch, or grinds going down
- A crack or chip in tempered glass — it cannot be repaired and will eventually shatter
- Water on the door panel or floor after rain
Worth knowing
Can a side window be repaired instead of replaced?
No. Door and quarter glass is tempered, which breaks into small pieces by design. Once it is broken, replacement is the only option.
Is aftermarket side glass fine?
For most vehicles, yes — same tempered specification and tint. On some makes the curvature and mounting clips differ, and we use the part that fits properly rather than the cheapest one.
How the job goes
- Step 01
Clean-out
Everything loose comes out of the door cavity, including fragments wedged in the track and behind the weatherstrip. Glass in a door is what kills window motors later.
- Step 02
Fit and seal
New tempered glass, matched for tint and curvature, goes into the existing regulator and track with fresh seals.
- Step 03
Test
The window is cycled repeatedly and checked for alignment and speed. Defroster grids and any wiring are tested before the panel goes back on.
